Cooking in our school

During a week breakfast, lunch and supper cook staff members. However during weekend meal cook students. So me and my colleague we like to hang around them.
In Europe, in Denmark, Slovakia or wherever you try to prepare very nice food with salad, desert and whatsoever in order to satisfied others. Here is very simply, we have for breakfast rice porridge and for lunch and supper we have always nsima (national food made from maize)  with relish for instance vegetables, egg, tomato and that`s all.

Our dining hall looks like this on the picture below.
Cooker? What`s that? :D No electricity! And if there is any then quite often disappear. So they cook on fire. They use metal stove or just simply on fire on three stones.

Students in the action. We staff members or students we don`t have running water during a day, but in kitchen there is always. Of course there is water until something is not broken.

As I said we like to hang around them, when they`re cooking. So once we joined them with cooking for a while. Because they didn`t wanna believe that azungu (white people) know how to cook on fire.
We showed them that we know it, and I remember that lunch was delicious!

Here students are preparing/cutting relish for a lunch.
